About me

Hi, I’m Johanna Breuch! 

I’m an illustrator, crossmedia designer, and the founder of The Printed Cat, based in Leiden, The Netherlands. I graduated from Aki Artez with a bachelor of design in 2015, after which I started working as an in-house designer and later became a freelance illustrator, artist and crossmedia designer. 

My illustrations are whimsical, colourful and humorous, often depicting cats in amusing everyday scenarios. You could say my style is comic adjacent: slightly exaggerated and simplified shapes, but with almost realistic proportions. I like to use saturated colors, and I will draw every brown cat purple and every black cat (dark) blue.

Since 2019, I have channelled most of my creative energy into cat-themed art and decided to start my own brand: The Printed Cat. At The Printed Cat I translate my cat-themed artwork into tangible products such as hand screen-printed apparel, greeting cards, stickers, and art prints, all produced sustainably in small batches in my studio.
